There was enough batter to make 24 regular sized cupcakes and I was only able to convince Jess to take 4 of them. So, if anyone would like to help me eat cupcakes, I’m more than happy to share!

Jess came over last night and we made the chocolate whiskey cupcakes! My apartment still smells a bit of chocolate and whiskey. Mmm.
P.S. I don’t like frosting, so I just sprinkled them with powdered sugar and called it good.

And packed it up and delivered it to the baby.
Since I had to knit two more fish to make the color pattern work, I ended up with two extra, which I stitched together to make a little fish toy for chewing on or whatever the baby wants to do with it, really.
Mom was excited about the blanket. Baby seemed pretty indifferent. Whatever.

The year after I graduated from college, I made a really sweet multi-colored striped table from an old junky end table that I’d been given. I used an assortment of fun colored duct tapes and electrical tapes and it only took a couple of hours one afternoon to complete. I love this idea of using old stamps to add a little spice to one’s environment.

This is a pretty awesome idea. If I were a little more motivated I’d make this.

HELLO! I know what I will be doing this weekend.

Recipe for these amazing looking Whiskey Cupcakes:
Ingredients

1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 cup brewed coffee
1 cup of American whiskey
2 Sticks of unsalted butter cut in to one inch pieces.
2 Cups of sugar
2 Cups of all-purpose flour
1 1/4 teaspoons baking soda
1/2 teaspoons salt
2 Large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla

Put oven rack in middle posistion and preheat oven to 325F. Heat coffee, whiskey, butter, and cup of cocoa powder in a 3-quart heavy saucepan over moderate heat, whisking until butter is melted. Remove from heat, then add sugar and whisk until dissolved, about 1 minute. Transfer mixture to a large bowl and cool 5 minutes. While chocolate mixture cools, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt in a bowl. whisk together eggs and vanilla in a small bowl, Then whisk into cooled chocolate mixture until combined well. Add flour mixture and whisk until just combined(don’t worry the batter will be a bit thin and bubbly). Bake Cupcakes for 30 to 40 minutes. Then place cupcakes on a rack to cool then dust with powdered sugar.
Use an ice cream scooper to make sure that all cup cake cups are even. This made about 12 Jumbo Cupcakes.

courtneyc:
I just purchased a ‘Maps of the World’ noteset from Cricicis on Etsy. I’m starting to think I need a penpal…
Such fantastic note cards! I have had a long standing love affair with snail mail and the fabulous stationary that (I feel) it requires. On average I send about one note/drawing/something fantastic (!) to a friend or family member each week. In my mind I am sending out little hugs to arrive in mailboxes when I can’t reach out and touch someone myself and that thought makes me smile.
On that note, I am always up for new penpals. (I had a real one once when I was in elementary school. Her name was Imelda and she was awesome. She sent me Hello Kitty stickers.) If someone would like to receive little hugs from my cozy corner of the globe, hit me up with an address! almostyou at gmail.

A little help from some friends.

katieschenk:

Okay, so what did I learn? I definitely need new jeans. I need to tailor the pants I already own. I think my biggest problem is making these few pieces turn into 15 pieces through mixing and matching. I need to go through my closet and figure out all the combinations of things that will work together. I tend to stick to the same thing and end up having a predictable rotation every two weeks.

Thanks for the help so far!

If you are feeling particularly ambitious and want to take pictures of what you already have, I absolutely LOVE finding new ways to wear clothes I already own and would be just as happy doing it for you as I am doing it for myself.
